I've always been a maker. All my life I've been making things, breaking things, arranging things. Painting is just something I've always done recreationally. I'm inspired by so many things but mostly nature, movement, color, and interior design.
Maryann About me

Hello, I’m Maryann Baro
I am a mixed media artist working in acrylics, acrylic mediums, collage, inks, and sometimes oil. I love to experiment in the studio throwing anything at the wall to see what happens. I actually took a leaf blower to a painting once. It was fun and productive. The thing that attracts me most about making art is the freedom I feel!
My hope is that that feeling of freedom translates into art that is moving, uplifting, and enjoyable to be around.

The flow, energy, decay, growth, and fragile beauty of the natural world is something I’m drawn to.
The trickling flow of a stream or the geological observation of earth is so satisfying to recreate on canvas.
Flowers, plants, streams, twigs, tangles, that twisting flow of nature, the action of the natural world is a never ending interesting symphony for me.
The riot of color and great reach flowers make towards the sun makes me sing. The winding vine is my muse.

Nature Lover
I grew up in an very urban environment, taking city buses everywhere on my own when I was just a kid. The rhythm of the city is so much different than the quiet, subtle, actions of animals, plants, and trees. The in-between space of nature is where I like to make my art. Trying to crawl into the flutter of a leaf, a soft gentle breeze, or the wild riot of color, or fading leaf caught in a glance or turn of the head.
That’s where you’ll find me.
